Uninterruptable Power Supplies are an integral part of any server room power management strategy.  The primary role of any UPS is to provide short-term power when the input power source fails. However, most UPS units are also capable in varying degrees of correcting common utility power problems:

  1. Voltage spike or sustained Overvoltage
  2. Momentary or sustained reduction in input voltage.
  3. Noise, defined as a high frequency transient or oscillation, usually injected into the line by nearby equipment.
  4. Instability of the mains frequency.
  5. Harmonic distortion: defined as a departure from the ideal sinusoidal waveform expected on the line.

Rack Power Distribution Units

In data centers and IT labs everywhere, facilities are approaching operational capacity limits. Power resources are increasingly constrained. And the cost of energy is spiraling out of control.

What type of power is available to your rack?  ECS offers four types of PDUs:

  • Basic
    You need simple power distribution
  • Metered
    You want to visually monitor the power used by the equipment connected to your PDU.
  • Monitored
    You need to remotely monitor power consumption of connected equipment
  • Switched
     You want to reboot locked devices or sequence power on/off remotely

      These PDUs include an integrated auto-transfer switch (ATS) that provides redundant power to single-corded devices.
